I know a woman who smoked and tried to stop, but she couldn’t. Finally, she gave up the effort and said to the Lord, “OK God, I can’t stop smoking. So from now on whenever I smoke, I will smoke to Your glory.” She then put her newly opened carton of cigarettes in the cupboard.
Three weeks later, her husband said, “Congratulations, hun.”
“For what?” she asked.
He replied, “For not smoking for three weeks; that’s what!”
She had never noticed. She checked the cupboard and there was her carton, exactly how she had left it.
She sat down amazed. She had remembered telling the Lord three weeks earlier that she would smoke to His glory from then on, but was totally unaware that she had stopped smoking entirely. She has never since either!
She wanted and was willing to give Him glory in her own small way, but He honoured that with something far greater!
