Down The Hole

Some estimates say that Canada will have overspent a balanced budget by $38,000,000,000 in the next two years.

That’s $1,085.71 for every Canadian alive, just to pay that one part of the debt without any interest.

That is, too, if every Canadian paid an equal amount --- which they won’t: every individual man, woman, child, baby, teen, old grandparent and Special Preference Citizen. All would have to pay that much extra to address this newest debt. In reality most will pay a lot more, along with their regular taxes.

Hard To Pay

In 2003, and maybe 2004, the Greenwood Utility bill was $300.

Today it is $670.

For the first time, my budget says, “This is getting hard to pay.”

There is a seldom used parking lot in Greenwood that the City pays $5,000 a year to rent. The owner of that property also gets a tax-exemption. Today that screamed to me that too many people are getting exemptions and sweet deals.

It is very Canadian; special rules for special folks.

The pensioners and peons pick up the slack.

People wonder why there is anger in the land.
